First, there is not enough room for the Temple on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.

Now when he had finished measuring the inner house, he brought me out by the way of the gate which faced toward the east and measured it all around.
He measured on the east side with the measuring reed five hundred reeds by the measuring reed.
He measured on the north side five hundred reeds by the measuring reed.
On the south side he measured five hundred reeds with the measuring reed.
He turned to the west side and measured five hundred reeds with the measuring reed.
He measured it on the four sides; it had a wall all around, the length five hundred and the width five hundred, to divide between the holy and the profane.

(Ez. 42:15-20)

Perhaps some will say that there is a mistake in the Bible, and in fact these dimensions in Ezekiel's prophecy must be read not in the reeds, but in the cubits. But here in the Bible there is no mistake. Before this, it is written that Ezekiel went out through the gate, so the measurements of the wall around the temple complex, made outside, were to show the result is not 500, but 512 cubits, due to the addition of the wall thickness which is equal to 6 cubits.

This means that in this case, Ezekiel saw the measurement not of the wall around the temple complex, which was measured at the very beginning of the 40th chapter.
He saw the measurement of some other wall, enclosing a huge space with an area of 1440 by 1440 meters around the whole mountain.

"This is the law of the house: its entire area on the top of the mountain all around shall be most holy. Behold, this is the law of the house.

(Ez. 43:12)

If today we try to begin the construction of the temple described in the prophecy of Ezekiel on the territory of Jerusalem, on the Temple Mount, we will first have to liberate a vast territory from all extraneous buildings.
And in addition to buildings, this territory will have to be freed from any graves, because the dead body is the main source of ritual uncleanness according to the law of Moses.

And around the Temple Mount in Jerusalem are cemeteries, a huge number of graves!
Someone can allow the demolition of the Dome of the Rock and a number of historical monuments, as well as huge cemeteries, in which there are quite recent graves?

Cleaning zone

Actually, this reason alone is enough to abandon the intention to build Ezekiel's Temple in Jerusalem.
The second important reason why the Third Temple needs to be built in a new place that will not be determined in accordance with tradition, but according to the prophecy of Ezekiel, is the lack of underground water sources for the fulfillment of prophecy when the water flows from under Ezekiel's Temple threshold.

Then he brought me back to the door of the house; and behold, water was flowing from under the threshold of the house toward the east, for the house faced east. And the water was flowing down from under, from the right side of the house, from south of the altar.

(Ez. 47:1)

water

The third reason why it is impossible to build the Third Temple in Jerusalem is that this stream of water, if you still manage to build a Temple in Jerusalem and pump water under it with the help of a powerful pumping station, — this stream of water will flow to another place, not at all, as indicated in the prophecy of Ezekiel.

If we build the Third Temple on the site determined in accordance with the prophecy of Ezekiel, everything will turn out by itself: there are layers with underground waters, from the side of the Hebron Highlands, and the Third Temple itself is located on the line of the watershed between two streams: Nahal Hever and Nahal Arugot
.

Nahal Hever, Nahal Arugot

By the way, we were able to find an unknown biblical place, mentioned in the book of the prophet Ezekiel as "Eneglaim" (Ez.47:10).

If the name "Ein Gedi" is translated from Hebrew as "the source of the goat", then the name "Ein Eglaim" is translated as "the source of two heifers". And in pictures from space in Google maps you can immediately see why the "goat" is one, and "heifer" there are two.

Well, of course, there is another, quite obvious reason that does not allow the fulfillment of Ezekiel's prophecy, trying to build the Third Temple on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.
The Temple Mount in Jerusalem is the northeastern slope of the hill of Zion, and not at all southern, as was shown in the vision of Ezekiel.

In the visions of God He brought me into the land of Israel and set me on a very high mountain, and on it to the south there was a structure like a city.

(Ez. 40:2)

How then to be with many other prophecies of the Bible, where the place of the future Messianic Temple is all the same indicated by Jerusalem?
And I'll just tell you: you can not argue with God. He gives names as He wants. If the Lord God says that the Temple will be built in Jerusalem, it means that the place in the Judean desert, where He instructed us to build the Third Temple, will also be called Jerusalem.
